The central feature of the view is the bridge with the monument to King Jan III. In the background on the left, on the embankment, the structure of Ujazdowski Castle is visible, whilst on the right, amongst the trees, stands the square building of the Hermitage. The monument was unveiled in 1788, and a series of celebrations were organized to mark the occasion. Performances were held at the Royal Theatre, while displays of chivalry and fireworks took place throughout the illuminated garden. Vogel’s work captures not only the architectural landscape of the Łazienki, but also the vibrant social life taking place there.
