Set against a vast landscape framed by clusters of trees, this view of the former Palace of Versailles features a procession of horsemen and carriages heading towards it. Adriaen Frans Boudewyns’ engraving reproduces a lost painting by the Flemish artist Adam Frans van der Meulen, which was once part of Stanisław August’s collection and hung in the Small Gallery during his reign.
