The author of the painting was influenced by the art of the Venetian, Giovanni Battista Piazzetta (1682–1754) or his circle. The painterly treatment of the forms, without the use of contours, the rapid brushstrokes, strong chiaroscuro, the expression on the face and the dynamism of the composition (the view foreshortened, from above) are characteristic of the work of Piazzetta and his followers. … [D.
