… The painting is eclectic in style and is reminiscent both of 17th-century French paintings, e.g. the circle of Simon Vouet, as well as the Bolognese and Roman schools of the second half of the 17th century. Such stylization of the figure of the Madonna—the manner of draping the fichu over the shoulders, and the coiffure—was disseminated in French and Italian, as well as Spanish art of the second and third quarters of the 17th century.
