Great tit
Parus major
The great tit is the largest of the tits occurring in Poland. It displays high contrast yellow and black colours. The sexual dimorphism is reflected by the black tie, which in males is dark and thick, and in females it is less apparent. The great tit is a bird that shows little fear of man, and in the Łazienki gardens it often sits on extended palms of visitors to eat the seeds they have brought. The bird builds nests in tree hollows and nesting boxes.
