European robin
Erithacus rubecula
The European robin is a pretty, small bird characterized by reddish-brown face and chest, and olive green back and a light abdomen. The nice appearance of this species is owed to its quite large black eyes. The European robin is an outstanding singer. It builds nests quite low – in fallen trees or broken branches. It can often be spotted on the ground where it moves with characteristic jumps looking for insects to eat. The European robin stays in the Royal Łazienki for winter and does not fly away.
