Common bullfinch

The common bullfinch is a bird that visits the Łazienki gardens in winter. It is part of the Fringillidae family and is characterised by a squat build. The short but strong beak, its sticking out breast and stocky figure give it a spherical look. The male is much more colourful than the female, because it has a red crop, breast and abdomen, while in a female these parts of the body are of a sandy colour. Louder sounds of the singing are interrupted by very soft ones, so from a distance it seems as if the singing of the common bullfinch was sharply cut.
