Mute swan
Cygnus olor
Swans are the largest Anseriformes in Poland. These are aquatic birds with a very majestic appearance due to their white colour and characteristic figure with a long neck. They are heavy, thus when taking to the air they lack elegance. In the Łazienki gardens, swans can be found mostly in winter as they have enough food and non-freezing sections of ponds. The mute swan is a species that takes particularly badly feeding with bread, as a result of which it can suffer from the "angel wind" disease.
