Goosander
Mergus merganser
The goosander is a fairly large representative of the Anseriformes; it lives in the vicinity of fish-rich water reservoirs. It builds nests in hollows of old trees or in the nesting boxes. The goosanders are great divers. The sexual dimorphism is reflected by the colouring: females are grey with a brown head, while males have a lighter body with a dark back, and their head is black with green sheen.
