Tawny owl
Strix Aluto
The tawny owl is the most common owl in Poland. Over the years, there have been mentioned even 3 pairs living in Royal Łazienki at the same time. In the years of mouse presence in the Łazienki, the tawny owls managed to raise even four children. Unfortunately, this bird is quite awkward when learning to fly and hunt, and the staff and visitors often had to rescue young owls from attacks by crows, martens or from drowning in the pond. The tawny owl is an important species in terms of regulating the numbers of rodents in the Royal Łazienki Park.
