Mandarin duck
Aix galericulata
Mandarin ducks are small ducks that naturally occur in Asia. In Poland, this species is often found in breeding farms because of the very attractive plumage of males. Females’ colours are subdued and greyish. In the Royal Łazienki, Mandarin ducks feel very well and hatch successfully, nesting in tree hollows. On land, young Mandarin ducks fear the hooded crow and in water huge fish living in ponds of the Łazienki gardens.
