Several varieties of beech can be found in the Royal Łazienki, including the copper beech and pendula, referred to as the weeping beech. Beech trees have smooth grey bark, rather thick shiny leaves and fruit in the form of three-sided walnuts hidden in a thorny shell. These nuts, called beechnut or beechmast, are edible for both animals and humans.
