Amur cork tree
Phellodendron amurense
A characteristic feature of the amur cork tree is the soft, light grey, cracked bark, which flexes under the pressure of a finger. It is a raw material for the production of corks, corkboards, etc. The non-even, feathery-like spread leaves of the amur cork tree appear not earlier than in early spring. When rubbed, they emanate a characteristic smell of turpentine.
