European spruce
Picea abies
A tree with a conical crown and hanging cones featuring a varied shape of seed husks. The European spruce does not adapt well in dry climate, thus its number has been gradually decreasing in Poland. It is not resistant to air pollution either, which causes its needles to fall. Numerous animal species feeding on seeds hidden in cones are associated with the European spruce.
