Crocus
Crocus longiflorus
The family of crocuses comprises many species, including cultivated saffron, whose dried stigmas are one of the most expensive spices in the world. In early spring, on the lawns of our gardens, visitors can admire ornamental species of crocus which flower in purple and yellow colours. Crocuses are perennial bulbous plants which spend winter in the ground. They favour a permeable, fertile and humus substrate and a sunny or slightly shady post.
