Painted lady
Vanessa cardui
The pained lady is a migratory species of butterflies, which in recent years has appeared in Poland in large numbers. Orange and black colours dominate with distinctive white accents. From the bottom, their wings are more marbly with four round "eyelets". The name of this species comes from the plants on which caterpillars prey – these are mainly thistles, circiums or burdocks. Imago, that is adult specimens feed on nectar.
