Red-tailed bumble bee
Bombus lapidarius
The red-tailed bumble bee is one of several species of bumble bees that can be found in the Royal Łazienki Park. It is small, dark, with the characteristic orange end of the abdomen. In addition, at the front of the trunk the male features a yellow ring which is absent in the female. The red-tailed bumble bees are very downy, barrel-shaped bees which pollinate many species, including those in which the nectar is deep. It builds nests in winter. Many people call the red-tailed bumble bees buzzing insects, which is incorrect because buzzing insects are completely different insects that belong to Dipteras.
