4th Education Festival Exploring Denmark

Saturday with Andersen’s tales, workshops for children featuring animations and games, lectures on Danish culture, screening of "A Royal Affair", as well as free museum lessons – these will be the main attractions of the 4th Education Festival, which will be held in the Royal Łazienki until 27 October 2016.

Everyone – children, students, and their parents – will find something for themselves in the rich programme of the festival. The animations, workshops, lectures and talks will all relate to Danish culture, which will be the central theme in the Royal Łazienki on the occasion of the exhibition of the royal porcelain – the “Flora Danica” dinner service – in the Palace on the Isle.

Thus, this year’s Education Festival will offer us the possibility to explore Denmark, and our guests will learn about the remarkable Danish writer and poet – Hans Christian Andersen, and his best known tales ("Saturday With Andersen"). Those who will attend the family workshops will have the opportunity to learn about the atlas of botany, "Flora Danica", make their own herbarium, and, during the Thursday lectures – discover the 18th-century Denmark and its traditions. Attractions for the youngest participants will include a theatre of shadows featuring Andersen’s tales. Adults, on the other hand, are invited to a screening of the film, "A Royal Affair", which is set in the 18th-century Denmark, and to a group discussion which will accompany the screening and take place in the photography workshop.

The Education Festival will feature free museum lessons. Pre-school children and primary school students will participate in the event "Andersen Instead of Classes", during which they will learn through play about Andersen’s tales. The "Secrets of Royal Botanists" lessons are intended for students of all ages. They will hear about famous plant hunters and learn how exploration conducted in distant countries advanced the development of botany in the world, including the "Flora Danica" atlas.
