Visit of Norwegian friends to the Royal Łazienki
The representatives of the Østfold Museum Foundation, with which the Royal Łazienki have been cooperating for several years, visited our museum. During the meeting the project of the Old Orangery conservation was summarized and plans for the future discussed.
The Royal Łazienki hosted: Director Gunn Mona Ekornes and Deputy Director Gaute Jacobsen from the Foundation of Museums from the Østfold region. At a meeting with the team of the Royal Łazienki, they summarised the project "Sphere of Muses and Thoughts of Stanisław August – Restoration and Refurbishment of the 18th Century Old Orangery with the Royal Theatre" carried out in the years 2012-2016 and financed by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism (EEA and Norway Grants) and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
Now, visitors of the Royal Łazienki can admire the Sculpture Gallery in the Old Orangery and enjoy the New Education Zone – the Artist’s Workshop. This important project for the Royal Łazienki has recently been awarded the prestigious prize of the European Business Club.
The meeting with the Norwegian partners was also an opportunity to discuss further joint projects that will help develop Polish and Norwegian museums and promote the cultural heritage. A letter of intent regarding further cooperation has also been signed.
The Polish-Norwegian Cooperation in the Royal Łazienki was initiated by Queen Sonja of Norway who visited the summer residence of King Stanisław August in May 2012. Then, the Norwegian Queen took part in a conference held in the Palace of the Isle which started a new era in the Polish-Norwegian cooperation in the field of culture. At present, Polish and Norwegian teams pursue joint cultural and educational projects and organise study visits.
