Visitors are invited to a lecture by the Ambassador of Ireland, Gerard Keown, who will share with us some extraordinary stories connecting Poles and Irish. The talk will concern encounters between the two nations throughout centuries.
The lecture will take place on 18 September at 18.00 at the Palace on the Isle. Entry is free. Polish-English interpretation will be provided during the meeting.
The Irish and Poles are often described as kindred spirits: two peoples who, although separated by geography and the currents of European history, have much in common. For long periods of our history, connections were shaped by encounters between Irish and Polish people.
As the Embassy of Ireland has emphasised, in recent decades the Irish and Polish peoples and states have formed deeper and lasting bonds. Today, Ireland is home to a large and welcome Polish community.
The exhibition "From Strangers to Neighbours. Encounters Between Poland and Ireland" was devoted to Polish-Irish relations. It was held in the Open-Air Gallery of the Royal Łazienki. It will be re-opened for the lecture by Ambassador Gerard Keown.
