The newly open, educational atelier in the Old Guardhouse welcomes guests and invites them to co-creation. It is a place where delight can be experienced in different contexts and circumstances – through sound, image, story, another person, and perceived through different senses.

The creative space in the Old Guardhouse accompanies the temporary exhibition ‘Łazienki in Marvels’ which is held in the Officer Cadets School. ‘Workshop of Marvels’ was not only inspired by the collections and gardens of the Royal Łazienki, but also by conversations and meetings with visitors, artists, volunteers and Museum staff. The site combines history with the present and has been designed to offer something for everyone. Here visitors can have fun, expand their knowledge, relax, create individually and as a team. In the atelier visitors can find, among other things, poems to compose in Polish and English, a script for ‘Poems for the Stage’, a simple musical notation to play pieces by Frédéric Chopin, a dance choreography of an 18th-century quadrille, a little gardener’s station, a place to learn how to set a table and a workshop for designing bathroom tiles.

Access to the creative space

►For individual visitors, the creative space in the Old Guardhouse will be open from Thursday to Sunday: 10.30-12.00 – 1st visit, 12.30-14.00 – 2nd visit, 14.30-16.00 – 3rd visit. Price for a 90-minute visit: PLN 1 – child, PLN 10 – adult.

Tickets are available at the Museum’s ticket offices (Officer Cadets School, Old Orangery, Kubicki Stables; Tue-Wed. 9.00-15.00, Thu-Sat. 10.00-17.00, Sun 10.00-15.00) and online (link soon). Admission is free on Fridays and in November as part of the ‘Free November’ campaign; bookings are required and can be made by e-mail: rezerwacje@lazienki-krolewskie.pl.

►For organized groups using the creative space, the creative space in the Old Guardhouse will be open on Thursday: 10.30-12.00 – 1st visit, 12.30-14.00 – 2nd visit, 14.30-16.00 – 3rd visit. Price for a 90-minute visit: organised groups of 10 to 25 people – PLN 150; organised groups of 10 to 25 people with special needs – PLN 75, in November admission is free as part of the ‘Free November’ campaign. Bookings are required and can be made by e-mail: rezerwacje@lazienki-krolewskie.pl.

►For organized groups taking advantage of museum lessons, the creative space in the Old Guardhouse will be open from Thursday to Wednesday from 9.00 to 14.00. Lesson duration: 60 minutes, price: organised groups of 10 to 25 people – PLN 25 /person; organised groups of 10 to 25 people with special needs – PLN 15 / person.

The creative space will be closed during Museum events (information will be provided on the website of the Royal Łazienki). Birthdays are not organised at the Old Guardhouse.

Accessibility to the creative space

The Old Guardhouse, where the creative space is located, has a range of facilities for visitors with different needs.

Facilities for people with mobility impairments:

  • Call buzzer on the façade of the building – it allows a person with a disability to summon the staff of the Museum;
  • Wheelchair ramps outside and inside the building;
  • Toilet for wheelchair users;
  • A wheelchair.

Facilities for people with visual impairments:

  • Tactile graphic plans of the interior and façade of the Old Guardhouse for the youngest;
  • Beacons for the YourWay app – they enable visually impaired people to discover the space inside and outside the Old Guardhouse;
  • Signage in Braille.

Facilities for the hearing impaired:

  • Invitation and descriptions in the Polish Sign Language (PJM);
  • Online translator.
