‘What are they playing here? The Theatre World of Stanisław Wyspiański’. Creative space for children and adults
Play different roles, have fun and relax, expand your knowledge, create individually and in a team in the new creative space ‘What are playing here?’, which draws on the theatre world of Stanisław Wyspiański. Children and adults are welcome.
The new creative space in the Old Guardhouse is open from Tuesday to Sunday: 10.30-12.00 – 1st entry, 12.30-14.00 – 2nd entry, 14.00-16.00 – 3rd entry. Admission: PLN 10 / family (until 30 December); PLN 10 / adult, PLN 1 / child (from 2 January), free on Fridays. Booking: rezerwacje@lazienki-krolewskie.pl. The creative space will be closed during events (information about the events will be provided on the Museum’s website).
‘What are they playing here? The Theatre World of Stanisław Wyspiański’ accompanies the temporary exhibition ‘Iconosphere of Wyspiański. November Night at the Royal Łazienki Museum’. The creative space has been designed so as to offer something for everyone. It is a place where you can play, develop your knowledge, relax, create on your own or in a team. Here, you will find elements of the Polish folk character, nature and art from the period at the turn of the 19th and 20th century.
The main part of the creative space is formed of a stage with an auditorium and theatre back rooms: the dressing room and the storeroom for the scenery items and props. Here, we can also find: Stanisław Wyspiański’s herbarium, his library and the stained glass and pastel workshop. Thanks to this arrangement, everyone can take on the role of actor, set designer, director, wardrobe master, stained glass artist, painter and herbalist. What are they playing here? Largely, what they will create here themselves.
Programme of the events
The creative space and temporary exhibition are accompanied by events for different age groups, including theatre animations, art workshops, walks, guided tours, lectures and museum lessons, as well as events designed for people with individual needs.

The Old Guardhouse, where the creative space is located, has a range of facilities for visitors with different needs.
Facilities for people with mobility impairments:
►Call buzzer on the façade of the building – it allows a person with a disability to summon the staff of the Museum;
►Wheelchair ramps outside and inside the building;

►Tactile graphic plans of the interior and façade of the Old Guardhouse for the youngest;
►Beacons for the YourWay app – they enable visually impaired people to discover the space inside and outside the Old Guardhouse;

►Invitation and descriptions in the Polish Sign Language (PJM);

►Calming kit (e.g. weighted blanket, colouring book);

Facilities for carers with young children:
►Armchair with footrest, which makes it easy to feed your baby and gives you the opportunity to rest and relax;
►Sensory kit, which helps to reduce tension and sensory stimuli; the kit includes soothing ‘squishies’ and gloves, as well as sound-deafening headphones for children and adults;
►Changing table in the toilet;
►Feeding chair;
►Microwave oven and electric kettle.
