December in the Museum
Concerts, including Christmas carols and pastorals, Christmas workshops for children and lectures – these are just some of the attractions offered in December in the Royal Łazienki. Visitors will also be able to walk along the Chinese Avenue ornamented with magic lights.
Christmas and New Year’s lights will illuminate the Royal Łazienki on 3 December at 5 p.m. The Chinese Avenue – from the gate in Agrykoli street to the gate in Gagarina street – will be ornamented with several-meter-high figures in costumes of the time. Visitors will admire the illumination every day – from dusk until 10 p.m.
The exceptional Christmas atmosphere will also be marked by the "Mazowsze" ensemble performance in the Royal Theatre. Already on 9 and 10 December, we will hear there the most beautiful Christmas carols and pastorals. These will be pieces that are famous and popular, as well as those less known, such as Serca ludzkie się radują (With hearts rejoicing) or Święta Panienka (Saint Maiden). Some of them are characterised by a rhythm of Oberek and Mazurek, while others of the Polonaise. Tickets for the concert of the "Mazowsze" ensemble can be purchased at the ticket offices of the Royal Łazienki (regular price – PLN 40, reduced price – PLN 20).
Children with carers are welcome on Christmas family workshops during which they will learn how to ornament Christmas tree baubles. They will paint themes that are inspired by models and colours of Dutch tiles, including such which can be found in the Bathing Room in the Palace on the Isle.
The workshops will be held on 11 December (meeting before the Palace on the Isle). Children aged 3 to 5 years are invited for 11.00 a.m. and children aged 6-10 years for 2 p.m. Admission tickets (PLN 15 – child plus carer) and bookings for workshops apply: warsztaty@lazienki-krolewskie.pl
Guided tours of the Palace on the Isle will also be marked by a Christmas character – daily, at 11.00 a.m. and 2 p.m. (admission ticket to the building applies). The Royal Łazienki staff will tell visitors about Christmas recipes of the royal cook, Paul Tremon.
Guided tours of the Old Orangery together with the Royal Theatre, and of the Myślewicki Palace start daily at 11.00 a.m. and 2 p.m.
On 24, 25, 26 and 31 December, all the buildings of the Royal Łazienki Museum will be closed.
