Exhibition: Iconosphere of Wyspiański. November Night at the Royal Łazienki Museum
The exhibition was created to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the publication of ‘November Night’, which Stanisław Wyspiański wrote after a short visit to the Royal Łazienki Museum. The exhibition explores the writer’s aesthetic and literary inspirations and the stage history of the famous drama. The exhibits on display include, among other things, photographs, theatre posters, as well as costumes, props and fragments of stage decorations.

Exhibition: ‘The Art of Thinking Well. The Legacy of Stanisław Herakliusz Lubomirski’
The first exhibition on Stanisław Herakliusz Lubomirski will be held at the Royal Łazienki Museum from 26 April to 1 September 2024. The figure of this eminent writer and politician, one of the most colourful representatives of the Polish Baroque, is presented through a rich collection of artefacts originating from domestic and foreign collections, including exquisite paintings, puzzling drawings and old prints, unique vessels, as well as objects extracted straight from the crypt.

Closed gardens of the Royal Łazienki

‘Architecture of Challenges’ – international research conference
An international research conference under the title ‘Architecture of Challenges – Materials for the Future’ was held with the participation of Polish and international experts. Exhibition: Discovered Images. Photo Aesthetics of Count Benedykt Henryk Tyszkiewicz (1852–1935)
Nearly 200 original prints, extremely interesting for their photographic qualities, are displayed at the exhibition of the oeuvre of Benedict Henryk Tyszkiewicz, a Polish-Lithuanian aristocrat and photographer. The 19th-century works, which for years were considered lost, come from Lithuanian collections. The exhibition can be visited from 8 December 2023 to 10 March 2024 in the Kubicki Stables.

New paintings in the collections of the Royal Łazienki
‘Italian Cuisine’ and ‘Peasant’s Home Among the Ruins’ – two 19th-century works by painter Amelia Lepige have been added to the collections of the Royal Łazienki Museum. These are further valuable paintings which contribute to the restoration of the collection of Stanisław August, partly sold by his heirs or lost in the turmoil of war.

A royal portrait in the museum’s collection
The portrait of Stanisław August in his coronation coat and armour, a unique representation of the monarch, has enriched the collection of the Royal Łazienki Museum. The purchase of the painting was made possible thanks to the funds from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

A painting from the royal collection returned to Łazienki
After 203 years, the portrait of Andrzej Poniatowski, brother of King Stanisław August, painted in 1778 by Marcello Bacciarelli, returned to the Palace on the Isle. The purchase of the painting was funded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

Zbigniew Wawer, Director of the Royal Łazienki Museum, passed away
On 12 December 2022, after a long and severe illness, Professor [Prof. nadzw. dr hab.] Zbigniew Wawer, Director of the Royal Łazienki Museum, passed away. "I can’t find the words that could express the immensity of the loss. A loss for culture, for all of us. An outstanding museologist and a wonderful, warm person. I express my condolences to the family and loved ones. Goodbye, Zbyszek!" – these are the words with which the Deputy Prime Minister, Professor Piotr Gliński, bid the Director farewell.

New splendour of the Kubicki Stables
The Kubicki Stables, dating back to the 19th century, have regained their place on the cultural map of Warsaw. The Battle of Chocim was one of the greatest military successes of Poland of the times of szlachta, which saved the state from the Ottoman aggression. The exhibition, which is dedicated to the battles taking place 400 years ago, presents historic arms illustrating the original Polish-Lithuanian and Turkish military. The exhibition can be visited from 9 October 2021 to 20 February 2022 in the Kubicki Stables.

The throne of the kings of Poland in the Palace on the Isle
Richly adorned, gold-plated audience throne from the 1st half of the 18th c., which had been used by August II and August III, will be at display in the Palace on the Isle from 2 February to 15 August 2021. The Baroque piece of furniture, adorned with coats of arms of Poland and Saxony, is one of the few preserved throne armchairs from the era of the Polish-Saxon union.

Exhibition: Firearms
Old firearms, including hunting and sporting exhibits, designed for target shooting are on display at a temporary exhibition in the Museum of Hunting and Horsemanship. All the exhibits were acquired thanks to a subsidy from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

Opening of the exhibition "Polish-Estonian relations in 1918–1939"
On 5 May 2021, at the Open-Air Gallery at Al. Ujazdowskie, the exhibition under the title "Polish-Estonian relations in 1918–1939 in the light of Estonian archival material" was officially opened with the participation of the president of Estonia, Kersti Kaljulaid, while on an official visit to Poland; the exhibition reminded the common inter-war history of both states.

Recovered Heritage. On the 100th Anniversary of the Peace of Riga
A hundred years ago, the operation of restitution to Poland of many priceless works of art and national mementoes looted by Russia during the partitions began. Among them were also items from the collections of king Stanisław August, which formed part of the furnishings of the Royal Łazienki. Polish cultural property was returned as a result of the Peace of Riga.

The oldest trees of the Royal Łazienki
European ash, which grows in the Romantic Garden near the Belvedere Pond, is likely the oldest tree in the Royal Łazienki. Its age is estimated at 200 years. The European larch and pedunculate oak trees are equally ancient.

Exhibition: At source. Inspirations of the Korean Tradition and Culture
The works drawing on the aesthetics of Korean traditional art, created by contemporary artists working in Korea and abroad, can be viewed at the exhibition held in the Officer Cadets School. The project is dedicated to one of the most crucial battles in world history, which proved instrumental in the shaping of the political map of Europe at the time.

The collections of the Museum have gained firearms from the 18th and 19th century
40 pieces of old firearms were added to the collections of the Museum of Hunting and Horsemanship – Branch of the Royal Łazienki Museum. Most of them are hunting antiques, and several of them are sports firearms designed for a shooting target.

New brilliance of the Royal Łazienki. The project "Sources of Transformations" has been completed
The White Pavilion and the Water Tower have been restored to their former splendour. Featuring new displays and an educational and cultural programme, they will open to visitors in spring. The historic garden surrounding both monuments and the relics of the Neogothic Orangery have also been renovated. The project which enabled to carry out conservation and renovation works was summarized at a conference in the Old Orangery held on 10 December 2019.

Classes for schools in the Education Zone. Students like royal artists

Monte Cassino. On the 75th Anniversary of the Battle
You are invited to see the exhibition commemorating the Battle of Monte Cassino, one of the longest and bloodiest battles of World War II, in which almost all Allied powers bound together to confront the Nazis. The exhibition will be held in the Open-Air Gallery at Aleje Ujazdowskie in Warsaw from 1 April to 31 May 2019.

Rembrandt in the Royal Łazienki. "Landscape with the Good Samaritan"
Masterpiece of landscape art by Rembrandt and one of only three confirmed works by the master in Polish collections. The "Landscape with the Good Samaritan" from the Czartoryski Princes’ collections will be put on display in the Royal Łazienki from 3 April to 5 May 2019.

Exhibition: "Tōhoku. Japanese Artistic Craft"
Masterpieces of Japanese artistic craft from Tōhoku will be on display in the Royal Łazienki Museum from 2 to 24 March 2019. Visitors will have a chance to see ceramics, textiles, lacquerware as well as objects made of metal, wood and bamboo – their diversity illustrates the unique culture of the region that was destroyed by the great earthquake and tsunami eight years ago.

Exhibition: "The Splendour of Orders on the 100th Anniversary of Regaining Independence"
Polish orders and distinctions, including the diamond and ruby uniform of the Order of the White Eagle, will be displayed starting from 9 November 2018 at the Royal Łazienki Museum. The exhibition, which features almost a thousand exhibits, including uniforms and documents, has been organized on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the restitution of Poland’s independence.

Roses for the 100th anniversary of Polish independence
On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Polish independence, the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria gifted one hundred Damask roses to the Royal Łazienki. The flowers adorn the Modernist Garden, where – on 18 July 2018 – a board commemorating the gift from the Bulgarians was unveiled.

2018 Chopin Concerts. Recitals every Sunday

Exhibition: "ONNA. Beauty, Strength, Ecstasy"
Depictions of Japanese women carved on Edo-period wood engravings made by the greatest Japanese masters will be displayed from 16 May until 15 August 2018 at an exhibition in the Royal Łazienki. The works come from the National Museum in Kraków and are one of the most precious Japanese engravings from across all Polish collections.

Exhibition of Thracian gold from the collections of the National History Museum in Sofia
Insignia from mid-4th century B.C. belonging to the ruler of one of the Thracian tribes – a wonderful golden wreath, golden rosettes and a golden ring with a stamp – will be displayed in the Palace on the Isle from 1 to 31 May 2018. They are part of the Thracian golden treasure set unearthed during the survey of an ancient burial mound in northern Bulgaria.

Eco-friendly bird houses for the gardens’ residents
A dozen nest boxes for birds have been placed in the Royal Łazienki gardens. Soon, insect hotels will also be installed. The miniature wooden houses complement natural hollows and they are part of the Museum’s environment protection programme aimed at preserving biodiversity.

Cleaner Łazienki Ponds following rehabilitation
Higher water levels, improvement of living conditions of plants and animals, increase of the population of fish – these are the effects of the rehabilitation conducted in the Łazienki ponds and channels using the Bio-Gen technology.

Paintings from the collections of the Kościuszko Foundation in New York
Three outstanding paintings from the collections of the Kościuszko Foundation in New York – "Kościuszko in West Point" by Bolesław Jan Czedekowski, "Light Cavalry Lisowczycy" by Józef Brandt as well as "Gamrat and Stańczyk" by Jan Matejko – will be presented at the Royal Łazienki.

New agreements on Norway Grants for Poland signed
On 20 December 2017, international agreements were signed during a ceremony held in the Palace on the Isle at the Royal Łazienki, granting Poland nearly €810 million from the EEA and Norway Grants. The funds will be used for projects involving environmental protection and development of the civil society.

During monthly meetings, visitors will have a chance to listen to remarkable poetry and discuss poems with their authors, literature experts, actors and poetry enthusiasts.

New trees in the Royal Gardens
Almost 40 trees will be planted in the Royal Łazienki Gardens. They will consist of horse chestnuts, maples, oaks and ashes. The trees will replace 15 snags, removed following the decision of the Warsaw’s Conservator of Monuments.

From 4 August to 30 November 2017, the Exhibition of One Painting will feature a masterpiece, "Portrait of a Patrician Family" by Abraham van den Tempel. The painting comes from the collection of Hamburger Kunsthalle, one of the largest public art museums in Germany.

First artistic season of the Polish Royal Opera
Requiem in D minor by W. A. Mozart, performed in the Archcathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist, will inaugurate the artistic season of the Polish Chamber Opera on 2 November 2017 r. A day later, the first stage premiere of "Dziady – Widma" (Forefathers’ Eve – Phantoms) will be performed in the Royal Theatre of the Royal Łazienki.

On 19 October 2017, at the Palace on the Isle – with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Culture, Piotr Gliński – the exhibition of one painting was opened, featuring works from the Kościuszko Foundation in New York.

The exhibition of the "Portrait of Margherita Gonzaga". See the famous work of art credited to Rubens
Dated to early 17th century, and only once shown publicly, the "Portrait of Margherita Gonzaga" will be on display at the Royal Łazienki. The work is credited to Peter Paul Rubens, one of the greatest artists of the Baroque era. There is a legend associated with the painting, which has been passed orally on to its successive owners.

General Mannerheim and Polish-Finnish Relations. A research conference
Polish and Finnish path to freedom, threats from the Bolshevik Russia and Nazi Gernamny, and the fate of Marshal Gustaf Mannerheim – these will be the main topics of the research conference to be attended by outstanding historians and international experts. From 1 May to 30 July 2017, in the Palace on the Isle, visitors are invited to contemplate ‘Ariadne Abandoned by Theseus’, a masterpiece by Angelica Kauffmann, one of the most prominent painters of the 18th century. The painting comes from the Old Masters Picture Gallery in Dresden, home to one of the largest collections of European painting art in the world.

Take the opportunity to visit the Royal Łazienki for free on 19 July. The event is organised on the occasion of the #PalaceDay, celebrated in Europe on that day. We invite visitors to the international Sphere of Silence Festival. On Saturdays in July, more than 100 concerts will take place on the open-air garden stages in the Royal Łazienki. UNESCO Young Professionals Forum in the Royal Łazienki
Tens of experts on heritage protection participated in workshops which took place on 28 June 2017 in the Royal Łazienki. The Youth Forum discussed how historical gardens are maintained, and talked about the conservation of exhibits from the Royal Sculpture Gallery in the Old Orangery. To commemorate the event, an oak was planted in the Romantic Garden.

One of the most outstanding painters of the 18th century, admired in European capitals, has earned the name of the "Female Raphael of Art". Emperors and kings, including Stanisław August, were among her clients. Two paintings by the famous Swiss artist were part of his collection.

The Royal Łazienki Museum has succeeded in obtaining funding for conservation and renovation works to be carried out in the White Pavilion and the Water Tower. The official signing of the agreement took place in the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage on 6 March 2017.

The former Inn at the Royal Łazienki will become more environmentally friendly. A project of thermal improvement will start this year owing to funding from the European Funds granted to the Museum by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management.

The Golden Collection of Coins in the Royal Łazienki has been enriched by new exhibits. The Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland deposited three coins with images of Polish kings in the Museum.

Royal bedchamber renovated. See how Stanisław August slept
Visitors to the Palace on the Isle can now see the royal bedchamber, which as a result of revitalization resembles the one from the times of Stanisław August. Now, we can admire historical furniture that was refurbished with highest care, including the ruler’s canopy bed and richly adorned silk wall panels.

Marionette Theatre. "La serva padrona" opera
Visitors are invited to a special performance – "La serva padrona" (Servant Turned Mistress), which will be shown in the Royal Theatre as a marionette opera. Almost one metre tall marionettes will "act" – brought to life with the hands of animators and voices of outstanding soloists.

Visit of Norwegian friends to the Royal Łazienki
The representatives of the Østfold Museum Foundation, with which the Royal Łazienki have been cooperating for several years, visited our museum. During the meeting the project of the Old Orangery conservation was summarized and plans for the future discussed.

Norway and EEA funds for culture. Conference in the Old Orangery
The Polish culture has been granted over 192 million euros from the EEA Financial Mechanism and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism. These funds have made possible the execution of numerous projects, including the reconstruction and conservation of valuable monuments. To summarise this European contribution, a conference was held on 27 September 2016 in the Royal Theatre of the Old Orangery.

A newly hatched peacock in the Royal Łazienki. For the first time in a few years
The Royal Łazienki has had a new resident. It is a peacock which hatched from an egg in natural habitat in mid-August. The young bird is healthy and has a good appetite. It enjoys eating boiled eggs and potatoes.

Polish Sculpture Gallery. The greatest exhibition of this kind in Poland
114 works of art, including sculptures of children and women as well as busts of famous historical personalities, will be displayed in the Polish Sculpture Gallery in the Old Orangery. These are works of almost the most prominent Polish artists active from the beginning of the 19th century until the middle of the 20th century.

Chinese Lanterns Festival. Oriental concerts in the Chinese Garden
In the second part of the Chinese Lanterns Festival you are invited to the Chinese Garden for concerts of oriental music. Every Sunday until 28 August, outstanding artists will play traditional musical instruments. The Buyo Japanese dance and tales about the Far East culture are not to be missed either.

2nd Festival of Baroque Opera in the Royal Theatre
Our visitors are invited to the 2nd Festival of Baroque Operas Dramma per Musica, which will begin on 2 September in the Royal Łazienki. Thousands of people contemplating the famous painting by Mignon
More than 39 thousand people have seen the excellent painting "Flowers in a Glass Vase" by Abraham Mignon, displayed in the Palace on the Isle. Abraham Mignon – the story of the painter of the "Flowers in a Glass Vase"
The baroque Dutch painter, Abraham Mignon, had strong ambitions to depict various flower compositions with maximal resemblance to reality. Today, he is considered one of the most prominent still life painters in the second half of the 17th century, and his paintings are displayed in major museums in the world.

The Old Orangery as good as new. Several-year long renovation completed
The Old Orangery has regained its former excellence. As a result of the works conducted by conservators, the building looks and functions as it used to at the time of Stanisław August. The funds for the renovation which took place between 2012 and 2016 were provided from the Norway Grants and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.

An astonishing discovery in the Old Orangery. An 18th century ruler hidden under the floor

“La serva padrona” in the Royal Theatre. A cunning maid and a bachelor under the thumb in the marionette opera
The famous work "La serva padrona” (“The Servant Turned Mistress”) by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, telling a funny story of a wealthy bachelor terrorized by a maid, will be available to see in February in the Royal Łazienki. The show, performed as a marionette opera, will be prepared by the Warsaw Chamber Opera as part of the "Baroque in the Royal Theatre" series. Tickets are for sale at the ticket offices of the Museum and the Warsaw Chamber Opera.

The Winter Evening of Light in the Royal Łazienki. Take a walk with a lantern

Bust of Diana lost during the war returned to the Royal Łazienki
A marble bust of the ancient goddess Diana which was lost during World War II has returned to the Royal Łazienki. The 18th century sculpture, which was found in a Vienna auction house, has been officially entrusted to the Museum by the Minister of Culture and National Heritage - Professor Piotr Gliński. Diana is beautiful. It is remarkable that this work of art is with us again - said Professor Gliński during the press conference.

Art pieces from the Royal Łazienki on exhibition in the Russian Hermitage Museum

"Free November" - more than 250 thousand visitors in the royal residences
Interest in this year's campaign "Free November" surpassed all expectations. More than 250,000 people visited last month Wawel Royal Castle, the Royal Castle in Warsaw, the Palace Museum, King John III in Wilanow and the Royal Baths Museum. "Prince Pückler - playboy, pasha and visionary". A debate in the Royal Theatre.
A film about Prince Hermann von Pückler-Muskau, creator of the famous Park Muskau included on the World Heritage List, was shown in the Royal Łazienki, followed by a debate devoted to the works of the German visionary. According to Rolf Nikel, ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany which organised the meeting in the Royal Theatre in the Old Orangery, the Park Muskau became our common heritage and a natural bridge between Poland and Germany.

Debate on EU in the Royal Theatre. "Europe must wake up"
- My goal was to make a film that would get through to people and stun them. Europe must wake up and such a signal must come from the society - Annalisa Piras, the producer of the "The Great European Disaster Movie" said. The Polish premiere of the documentary as well as the accompanying debate on the future of EU took place in the Royal Theatre in the Old Orangery as part of the “European Wednesdays" organised by the Royal Łazienki and Professor Bronisław Geremek Foundation Centre.

The Dutch Garden is being created in the Royal Łazienki
Hundreds of tulips, narcissus, daffodils, then roses, hydrangeas and perennial plants will bloom in spring in the Orangery Garden of the Royal Łazienki. The plants will form the so-called Dutch Garden which has been designed by Dutchman Niek Roozen. - We want to enrich the surroundings of the Old Orangery by adding flowers, perennial plants and shrubs. Handel resounded in Łazienki. The 1st Festival of Baroque Operas ended
Brilliant baroque operas, including "Agrippina" and "Orlando" were presented to the guests of the 1st Festival of Baroque Operas "Dramma per Musica", which took place in the Royal Theatre in the Royal Łazienki until 20 September. There were also atmospheric concerts and recitals. Nearly 100 artists, including nearly 40 vocalists, performed for audiences of the Festival.

Great refurbishment in Łazienki. The Palace on the Isle and its surroundings have gained beauty
The interiors of the Palace on the Isle have been renovated to appear as they did when Stanisław August was looking at them, historic polychromes have been uncovered in the Myślewicki Palace, the alleys in the historic gardens have been modernised and the Museum’s website enhanced – all this work has been carried out in the Royal Łazienki over the last three years thanks to a project co-financed from EU funds.

“Out of the Darkness” show by Leszek Mądzik, that is a play of lights and fleeting beauty of nature
The play of lights and music, which revealed the fleeting beauty of the Royal Łazienki’s nature, could be watched on Saturday and on Sunday evening in front of the Palace of the Isle during “Out of the Darkness” jubilee shows. The production was set by Leszek Mądzik – a brilliant director and stage designer who, 45 years ago, founded the Fine Arts Stage at the Catholic University of Lublin.

European Days at the Royal Łazienki Museum, from 1–17 May
From 1–17 May, the Royal Łazienki Museum is hosting 'European Days', a series of events including the 3rd European Picnic, to be attended by the President of the Republic of Poland, Bronislaw Komorowski and the First Lady, the opening of the newly-renovated Palace on the Isle, the Charter of the 3 May 1791 Constitution exhibition, as well as European Debates, concerts and educational activities.
